thejakartapost.com - State-owned train manufacturer PT Industri Kereta Api (INKA) is working to ensure that six trainsets ordered by state owned train operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) will be delivered by mid June.
The trainsets, which consist of 66 units of train cars and can transport around 4,500 passengers per trip, will be deployed by KAI to support its Idul Fitri fleet.
"Our teams work in three shifts, 24 hours a day [to complete the sets]," INKA finance director Mohammad Nur Sodiq told journalists on the sidelines of an event in Jakarta on Friday. "We will deliver them to KAI on June 15.
Currently, the team is running a series of tests as the last part of its quality control measures before sending the trainsets to KAI, he added
Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi had pushed INKA to complete the trainsets before Idul Fitri celebration, which falls between June 25 and 26 to maximize the transportation load during the exodus.
